About the CERIS Process
CERIS Strategy (The Center for Emerging Research & Industry Strategy) guides institutions through researched best practices to assess readiness, identify gaps, prioritize strategic partnerships, and institutionalize scalable collaboration.
CERIS works with higher education institutions and economic development agencies to strengthen alignment between research ambition, workforce development, and industry partnerships. These engagements assess institutional readiness, clarify governance and coordination structures, design centralized partnership models, and align faculty and external priorities. The focus is not simply on increasing partnerships but also on building the internal and external architecture that allows collaboration to scale, endure, and produce measurable research and workforce outcomes.
Higher Education
Consulting
For universities, emerging research institutions, community college systems, and academic units

CERIS partners with higher education institutions to strengthen internal alignment between research ambition, workforce development, and industry engagement. These in-person or virtual engagements assess institutional readiness, clarify governance and coordination structures, design centralized partnership models, and align faculty incentives with external priorities. The focus is not simply on increasing partnerships but on building the internal architecture that allows collaboration to scale, endure, and produce measurable research and workforce outcomes.
Regional & Government Strategy
For economic development organizations, state agencies, and regional coalitions

CERIS works with national, state, and regional leaders to evaluate how higher education institutions align with emerging industry sectors and workforce priorities. This includes assessing structural barriers within higher education institutions, identifying cross-campus coordination opportunities, and designing centralized mechanisms that enable universities to respond more effectively to regional economic strategy. The outcome is a clearer pathway for aligning public investment, talent pipelines, and institutional capacity around high-growth sectors.
Sector & Industry
Alignment
For industry coalitions, innovation initiatives, high-growth sectors, and advisory boards

CERIS collaborates with industry leaders and sector coalitions to align academic capacity with evolving R&D needs and workforce demands. These engagements map institutional strengths, identify engagement bottlenecks, and design coordinated pathways for research collaboration and talent development. This includes assessing how universities can be more responsive to emerging technologies. The goal is to create structured, sustainable alignment between industry momentum and higher education systems, ensuring that partnership activity translates into long-term sector growth.
